First trip of the spring
I got home from my trip south Wednesday afternoon and was needing to wet a line in the worst kind of way. I loaded the 12' flat bottom and headed to Barry County around 10:30 this morning with the temps right at freezing. The sun was shinning bright so I was hoping the crappie would have moved into the canal at my super secret spring crappie spot. The first hour I didn't get a bite and was almost ready to call it a day when I caught my first fish, a small throw back, but at least I landed one. Over the next 2 hours the bite gradually picked up and I was able to put together a nice cooler of fish. At the end I was playing catch and upgrade and the totals for the day were ><40 fish caught, 25 kept with several in the 12" range, a few under 10" and the rest in between. I was fishing a 1/16th jig set 9"-12" under a set bobber and Bobby Garland baby shad. Bluegrass was the hot color but bleeding shad took some, too. No pictures today.
