Riding the storm out !
When I went to bed the forecast was for rain to start around 10 .
While warming up my Jimmy Dean Turkey sausage in the toaster oven, I looked out the kitchen window, no rain yet .
After eating my breakfast I checked the temperature, 60 hmmm , checked the radar and the line of rain was about two hours out .
Don’t you love modern technology. LOL .
Got dressed , grabbed my 7’ Daiwa Procyon UL paired up with a Daiwa Fuego LT1000 , my tackle bag and was at the town pond around 9:45 .
The 7’ with a 3” Mr Crappie cigar float would zip my float and jig 100 feet . That opened up a lot of new territory for me and it paid off .
But not until I switched my 1/64 TM jig and plastic to a 1/80 hand tied white jig . White chenille with white rabbit zonker hair tail.
I caught five and every one of them bit out where I couldn’t reach before .
The wind made accuracy difficult as I tried to get close to the water aerator that was off because the town had erected a Christmas tree out of lights on the floating frame . Most of my casts were way short . The closer I could get , the better chance of a bite .
My last cast , the wind shifted and blew my float and jig rig into the Christmas lights and I broke off just as the rain started .
I got in about an hour and fifteen minutes of fishing and caught five gills .
This is what the sky looked like as I was leaving .
