Kinda new to powder painting jigs. I have seen on YOUTUBE some people use heat shrink tubing over the eye. What size do you use for 1/16 ounce with number 4 sickle hook?
Any other ideas or techniques would be appreciated.
Thank You

I use either 1/32 which is a tight fit or 1/8 shrink tubing which is loose an$ slightly thicker which I like so it doesn’t melt too much and burn your fingers as much when you pull it off,,, i actually use both though,,,then after you pull it off, flip it and use opposite end to get maximum benefit from 1 piece,,,,eBay sell rolls of like 100 ft for like $10 ech…I go through a lot,,,I also pour my own jigs and paint as well,,,
Unfortunately, it all depends on the hook’s eye size. I use 1/16th inch size and it fits most of my hooks OK, and some very well, and some not at all. I suspect that that size would be a good place to start though.
I trim mine about a quarter inch long, and ease it over the hook eye, leaving a gap between the shrimk wrap and the jig head. Covering most of the eye but not quite all of it. This makes it remove easier and fills the gap in the wire of the eye.
Paint on the eye may not be a bad thing though. A light coat can seal off the gap in the eye and make using braid line a lot more friendly. The line wouldn’t slip through.
Some folks use hemostats and just grab the eye and that works well for them.
The hemostat method is the one I use when I do paint heads
I use pliers rather than hemostats.
I use alligator clips but they do need cleaned up after a while . Shrink tube is my favorite method.
