A lot of guys jig various colors and jig heads. Chartreuse and white are good go to colors any time of the year.
No opportunity down this way to ice fish. Although from what I have seen it does look like lots of fun. YouTube is a good resource for tactics and lure choices
If you're using a jigging rod, I'd be looking as some sort of horizontal jig with live bait, like 2-3 spikes or a wax worm or 2. Minnows if using a trap or tip-up. If you can use more than one line, jigging in one hole with a minnow with some sort of float or indicator on another rod in the hole a couple of feet to the side of your jigging hole. This is often called a "dead stick" rod.
I do a lot of ice fishing, will you be jigging or tipup/down fishing? Do you have any electronics?
