Fished my local reservoir again today .
A beautiful day , upper 70’s .
Got on the water around noon , fished to around 4:30 .
Spent a little time running around checking out drop offs , creek channels , and flats using my old Eagle fish finder . I heard a total of five beeps , two of those were on a underwater tree .
Caught one bluegill on a hand tied jig , and a dinky little bass on a slider grub .
That’s it .
My fishing buddy caught three small bass , one was about 3/4 lb and gave him a fun fight on his UL .
Talked to one of the other fishermen out there . He said the fishing was slow , but he’d caught one shellcracker about the size of his hand . I asked him what he did with the shellcracker and he said it was supper . :( .
I told him that one shellcracker could helped replenished the fish population next spring, but now won’t get a chance .
He said he’d never thought about it that way .
After 20+ years of fishing this reservoir, I’ve never seen it this bad and folks are still taking everything they catch home .
I’m not against taking home a meal sometimes, but after a point , the depletion has to stop .
