Snake River this video and photo is how to do the teardrop lure. It is less that a minute long but you will get the basic idea on how to make your own teardrop lure for freshwater or ice fishing situations. This lure will be around 1/84th ounce in weight and perfect for the Crappie or Bluegill to easily inhale. Put that Wax Worm plastic Tail on it from your "Zipper Worm" and you will be in business. You can get all the supplies you need from Janns Netcraft. Here is the video and a photo of the finished projects.

Just use the tail off the Zipper Worm that Snake River makes. If I am using the #2 size hook for big Crappie I use the entire tail minus the little ball on the end. If I have soldered the #4 or #6 size hook then I am using the last 2/3 of the tail minus the little ball on the end. What I try to achieve is just have about a quarter inch lure below the hook so when the fish strikes they get metal in their upper mouth.

MCG1 This video shows the Pinman lure action with the Wax Worm imitation and how much of the lure is below the hook. You can make this lure using a #2 size hook for large Crappie or using a #4 or $6 size hook. Hope that helped some.

I learned that trick years ago by trial and error. I wanted the glossy powder paint finish instead of painting the Pinman with model car paint. My first attempts with powder paint had stuck to the lure but had a fuzzy type appearance at the top. I tried to just solder the lure longer before dipping it in the powder paint and it was so hot the heated shell would always come off the hook. You have to use the gold hook and just solder the hook to the shell first. Sprinkle your powder paint(s) onto the soldered shell. If it does not completely melt then just touch the backside of the lure lightly with the soldering iron a few times. You will see it begin to melt the paint. That is when I remove the soldering iron and let it finish melting. Ten minutes later you can paint on the eye or any design on the lure.

Reheating the Powder Paint gives the lure a very nice gloss finish. These are some more I did today soldered to a number 2 gold hook. This is a perfect size for those who like to fish with a minnow or foe a Wax Worm imitation. Yes, the "Pinman" is for "Ice fishing" hard water or for casting in soft water situations like a reservoir or a creek.

Yes. You can use any live bait to fit the size of the hook. Use Wax Worms or Maggots on the #4, #6, or ,#8 size hooks. You can use minnows in the same way as people fish them on a plain hook. Use a minnow on a #4 or a #2 size hook. The basic idea of a Pinmans tear drop is you do not have to use a split shot like you do when using just a hook. I use my weighted slip floats for additional casting distance since I do a lot of bank fishing. Instead of live minnows you can also use any two inch soft plastic lure on the #2 hook and any one inch soft plastic lure on the #4 or #6 hooks.
