Neshaminy Creek Update
Sad news concerning the Neshaminy Creek. DEP has put the whole creek (and it runs miles) on a “Do Not Eat” advisory due to a high concentration of PFOS. I didn’t know what that even is, but I do now. This includes the Neshaminy Creek State Park, and my home water of Tyler State Park. As a consequence, there will be no stocking in the foreseeable future on the creek, so the state will look for alternate water for spring trout.
There is no doubt a lot of other bad stuff in the creek, but I guess this stuff pushed it over the edge. Fishing there remains good, just do CPR.
Bob
PS as a personal practice, I have never considered eating anything from the creek.:(

Thanks for the post, u2s. I got my info from local Patch but it mirrors what the DEP put out. I shiver when I think of all the kids that constantly swim in the water, although it is posted. The rangers can’t cope with the crowds at the picnic areas so they just turn a blind eye. That said the horses and animals drink from it (Tyler State Park) and I guess once it gets in you it doesn’t purge out. It sounds like nasty stuff for sure.

PS The fish I catch look healthy, no lesions or anything like that.
