Their first fish.
It's good when you get to read post's about Father's and Grandfather's taking their children and or grandchildren out on their first fishing trip. That's how we pass on the knowledge, and hopefully interest in the hobby of fishing.
Well, this time it is my turn. My youngest granddaughter called me, while her mom was taking a nap. She normally does when she is bored, thank goodness for bordom I say. I love hearing from my granddaughters, 4 in total.
She promptly asked me if I would "come pick her up?" That's usually code for "take me shopping". I of course caved and told her I would come pick her up around 3 pm, she said ok. A few texts later with her mom, aka my daughter had us going for a boat ride and some bream fishing thrown in for good measure.
We had a slight breeze, winds out of the N @ 4 mph on the main lake water surface temp was 86°. The old standby piece of nightcrawler on a #6 Aberdeen hook with a float and very light sinker proved to be the tickets. Fish were about 6' down on the shady side of Booker T Washington dock. While my daughter didn't fish, she was in charge of the photos. Oh yeah, we had chicken salad chick for our boat picknick. And the day, made me one happy Grampa.
