How do you guys like The mercury 200 OptiMaxs? I’m fix to buy a boat with this motor? It’s 2018 year model. Dependable motors? Maintenance? Just wanting some info on these motors. :dono

I sure see a lot of them on the water. A little research into common problems on that motor should tell you a lot about the issues it has or doesn't have.
The only optimax I was around did very well and it was a 115. Didn’t need gas, ran on the smell. Hardly ever put gas in it. Never had mechanical issues that I know of. It was just on the wrong boat and got sold.
I had a 07 Optimax 150. Best motor I ever had. Only thing I did was change the plugs 1 time and put a couple fuel filters on it. Then of course the yearly water pump/gear dope changes
