I don't get to the lake very often this year due to my led and ankle. I am limited on where I can fish due to mobility issues, so There is a couple places I go I can get to fairly easily. The first place I went to was by the old coal power plant in Springfield, Mo. They closed it down a couple years ago and rumor has it it will be torn down. Didn't even wet a line as the access point below the dam, my easy to get to fishing area the water was just covered with a thin coat of oily looking slime from the plant. On to my second area at the bridge at lake McDaniel, which is owned by the city for drinking water. They have determined No floating craft of any kind in the lake, no wading, no swimming. This is where I usually go as it's close and convenient to the house, and easy enough access. It's also where I caught my personal best crappie at, The sad news is, it seems a certain other crowd has determined they can Magnet fish the area too. Usually in the evening and into the night. unfortunately they scare the bejesus out of the crappie using he bridge for structure, and then leaving what ever junk they pull up, either metal trash of sorts or the sunk structure some kind soul had placed their as an attractant for the crappie. Game warden says nothing they can do because it's city property???, sheriff says city property not our jurisdiction, and the city police says, we don't have a patrol car in the area because the property is actually in the county...So, looks like it's a catch 22, and I'll need to find some where else. I do know of a couple spots, just uncomfortable on my ankle to ride that far right now...Times will get better I hope.
