A morning trip, 5-22

I decided last night that I'd take a cooler back to the pond this morning and see if I could find enough for a fresh fish dinner tonight. I pushed off from shore about 7:15 in calm conditions, air temp at 63. Foolish me, the water temp never registered in my mind while fishing today even though I had it displayed all morning on the sonar.
There was already a boat in the spot I wanted to fish but I left him plenty of room and fished a different area that I felt would hold fish as well. Took me a while to put the first one in the boat but when I found the spot, the action picked up a bit. The first couple in the boat were about 6" at best, then they began to get a bit bigger, this one at perhaps 8".

I was hoping for some of those bigger 'gills I pulled in the other day but this would be the biggest sunfish of the morning at just over 8"; big enough for the cooler and dinner.

Only got one bluegill today, the others were all pumpkinseeds. The crappie weren't quite as large as the other day, but I dropped 9 of them in the cooler, ranging from 9" up to 11", with only one nudging the 12" mark. Here are a couple of them before diving in to the ice cubes.

All told, kept 9 calico's and 3 sunfish, but tossed back a fair number of juniors in both species. Beached back on shore at 10:15 as the wind began to pick up and the bite had dropped off noticeably.
I've got to read up on the cooking board as I mentioned fish taco's to my wife and she thinks they will be a good idea for supper. We've never done them here at home so we'll see how that plays out; I'm sure they'll tasty.
