nope ,but it sure used to be the norm out in the country to see fellas whittling .
back when i used to visit a few ole porch dogs , them fellas just whittled all day long .
was always a great pit stop for a teenager , man did they tell stories .
one had me bring him squirrels in trade for stories .
said he loved squirrel brains and eggs for breakfast :yikes
Only bigguns I have seen done were reproduction fish. Seems I saw a carving picture somewhere though.
No thanks on the breakfast protein, but it is very cool that you had those visits and stories, it seems these days you don't get much of that, but I think it therapeutic for both story teller and listener.

Well, I don't have the skills to pull this off, but am going to proceed anyway. Finding a suitable dry piece of wood is not easy, so I am working with a piece of wet walnut round easily big enough for all but the big top fin,it will be carved separately. Detail will be about chain saw carving level, and the mouth and eyes are the hardest to make look right.
