Float n fly crappie
It had been last July since I caught a crappie at this lake but finally broke the ice today with a couple of nice ones using a 1/48 float n fly on a #10 sickle hook. First one was 13.75 inches and the second was 14.5 inches. Both are still swimming in the lake. Been really windy but getting some 60 degree days finally. Won't be too much longer before the big girls start moving up.Attachment 395549Attachment 395550Attachment 395551

Good fish Jim! I’ve been waiting for you to catch a window in the weather and get out some. Like you say, temps and length of days will be turning them on soon, have fun when you go.

I've been fishing almost every day for the last week including some ice fishing and the duck feather jigs are tearing up the trout, bass, bluegill and finally a couple slabs. Here is a closer look of what I'm using. I love those up bites when you see the little pop and wait for the float to sink. That never gets old. Attachment 395572Attachment 395573

Very nice looking jigs! Do you tip them with anything?

For the little jigs like this I cut a Berkley Power Wiggler in half lengthwise which gives me twice the baits and a little more action than a whole one. Also tip them with waxworms.
