You guys are pretty good at this. I thought all fish made nests, and that's where the eggs are, so what in the heck are these? I could be wrong about the fish. Mostly on underwater branches, and all over the place.

I saw that last year at a local pond/lake (40 acres). Don't know what it is, but I figured it to be some sort of algae or fungus.
Anxious to hear what it really is.
p
err .... I mean, Buffy :p
I believe those are Bryozoan colonies.
Check here, to see if this is what you're seeing : http://www.deq.state.mi.us/documents...s-bryozoan.pdf
If those are gelatinous, ball shaped thingys ... attached to submerged wood ... I'd almost bet that's what they are. Supposedly, they are an indication of fertile waters, and an environmentally sound water condition ... as they don't seem to grow or flourish in waters that are not.
If they are Bryozoa .... they are, in fact, animals ... not algae/fungi
..... cp
I've seen that stuff before, but have no idea what it is.
Crappiepappy hit the nail on the head!!
Could it be frogs eggs? They lay eggs in a geletanus mass, and as they develop you can see the tadpoles getting bigger inside. Then one day they'll just swim out and it all dissolves.
Hats off to Crappiepappy.
He sure is on top of his game with everything. I had NO CLUE. Thanks Crappiepappy.
Buffy, were those on your pond? Did you catch any fish?
old ship
Thanks CP, you may call me 'Slayer';) That sure looks like what it is, they are. (??) Fertile waters my sunburn! I think they just say that, and what ever it is has eaten all the fish. 4 lousy bream, AND we get out there to find the sign at the landing "no fish finders or depth finders"
Only a little disgrunteld, fishing with a buddy is always good.
wow they really do know everything....:D
I saw those in a small lake around here.
fishin' magician posted one of these last year on the LA board. He caught it, & posted some good pics of it. here you go!
