I have a helix 7 mega si gps gn3. If i get an ulterra ipilot link with MDI will this unit work. I see where it says a DI mega unit. I thought i was getting both with this unit

With Ulterra MDI you would get down imaging. With Ulterra SI you would get down and side imaging.

It'll work but if you want SI you'll need an MSI trolling motor.
i am really just wondering if the unit i have will be able to receive the mega down image.
I don't know why it wouldn't, but why would you want to limit yourself to DI, if you have a SI unit? Is there a cost difference between the MDI Ulterra and the MSI Ulterra? If not, there's no way I'd not want SI.Quote:

I think you need to be in DI in your unit to work on a DI trolling motor for it to work. Otherwise you will get only 2D. Hopefully Ricki will help you.
To use the Minn Kota MDI with the HELIX 7 Mega SI G3N GPS - you would need to change the Connected Transducer setting to “Built in HW + MDI” to shut off the SI transmitters in the head unit ...
Firing the SI transmitters to an xducer that has no SI piezoes can fry the transmitters ...
