Merc is on 07 Triton TS 17 aluminum boat. Has a 10.38 x 14p aluminum prop I damaged. I load heavy and normally have two in boat. Don't get on plane often but always took too long until I put a fin on motor. Thinking speed is around 30 at 5200 rpms but been a while. Should I order same prop or go with something else? Not considering stainless but open to learning.
Had a 60 2 Stroke on a 17ft aluminum Tracker.
I played with several, a 13 pitch was preferable for heavy loads, hopped on plane much quicker. I ran a 14 most of the time because I usually fish solo.
I'd try a 13p Mercury Spitfire 4 blade. They're a little expensive, but light as a feather and they plane out quick and provide a lot of lift.
You have a lot more RPM on the table, recommended is 5500 on that motor.
contact Michelle at Power Tech Props. She is awesome, they handle stainless props but once you have one you won't want aluminum. My new 60 4 stroke on my RT178 Ranger came with a aluminum 4 blade, I too believe it's a little sluggish getting on plane. Top speed is good and WOT rpm is perfect.
I tried a Powertech stainless. It was okay, holeshot was pretty good but lacking on the top, good prop for sure though.Quote:

With a normal load, what was your WOT RPMs? If it was 5200, then that sounds a little low so I'd drop down one inch in pitch. Another thing that you can do to jump on plane faster is to get a prop with more cup. It will give more lift to the stern.
