I recently watched a video on YouTube, where this guy said if you purchase the recommended Champion plugs from an Evinrude dealer, the washers are set for plug to index correctly.....What say u?

I say nope.
They will have the same Champion part number on the box.
Bring him 2 boxes and ask him to point out which box has the index capable washer in it.:biggrin
What is indexing?
Indexing is done by placing (usually copper) washers of varying thickness on the spark plug shoulder, so that when the spark plug is tightened, the plug will rotate a certain amount, and gap will point in the desired direction.Quote:

On optimax mercury yes ,spark plugs have to be. It may take 3 plugs a hole.
