I really ought to know, but I don't, can someone tell me what kind of fish this is? I caught a bass that spit it up....
(I immediately put it on that jig and it was stripped on the first cast)

Or possibly a River Herring ?? (definitely a "shad" of some sort or another)
Does the body of water it came from empty into the ocean ??

Yeah ... I'm pretty sure they'd be the bait clouds you see. Maybe you can find out if your F&W folks stocked a particular type of Shad in that lake. That would rule out any look-alikes, if there's only one specie stocked ... but, illegal introduction of other species might also be going on. :donoQuote:

shad / herring family no doubt , hard to tell positive .
freshly chewed takes away some of the visual markings and such .
the eye seems quite large , that might indicate something .
