Bought a Boat
Hey y’all!! A little while back I posted a thread asking for boat opinions, and after deciding I was going to wait until next year to buy.....a deal came along that I didn’t think I should pass up. I bought a 1998 SeaArk ZX180 with the original Johnson 90HP 2-stroke motor on it, original trailer with new bearings and tires, a 24V 74lb thrust Minn Kota Maxxum, about the same age Humminbird 598 DI up front and 598 SI at the console, triple bank charger, and else working on the boat except the horn. Carpet is a bit faded and has a tear or two. One of the 5 original seats has a couple separations on it, but that’s the worst of them. Hull looks to be in great shape. Motor seems to be a little cold natured, but fired up second time no problem and sounded good on the ear muffs. Paid $4900 for it, and the man said he has all the original owners manuals and books somewhere in his house that he is looking for to give me.
Was that an okay deal? Are these boats okay even though it’s 22 years old now? Are those Johnsons any good or should I be saving up for replacement soon? I really love my dad’s 1652, so I’m hoping this boat is of similar quality.
This summer fishing game is tough! I’m ready for fall!

Pictures...we love pictures. I never met a SeaArk hull I didn't like. A boat is only worth what you're willing to pay for it.

Doesn't matter what all of us think. If you're happy with it, it's all good!! Enjoy your new ride, tight lines and full livewells.

For what it is worth I think you got a great deal on that boat. Friend just sold a 96 with Evinrude for a good bit more that and in a lot worse shape. My opinion one of best aluminum boats built, lots of front deck, handles rough water great and tough as nails. Fuel economy should be your only complaint. Those motors like a little fuel. At that age I’d start saving for a new 4 stroke in the future just because but that boat will last you rest of your fishing life.

My 1998 boat has the original Johnson motor on it and has been used 50-60 days a year since I have owned it and it still runs fine.

Sweet ride. It will serve you well. Get you a manual or good mechanic and go over the pumps and filters and oils

Nothing wrong with that deal. Boat should last you a lifetime if you want it to.
