Interesting scenario
Saw a guy yesterday cast netting for shad . he was doing pretty well .
we started to chat and he informed me there were no baitfish around that area when he got there .
it was flat about 6 foot deep . he went on to tell me some of his friends that cast net for shad frequently bait the area with whole kernel corn if the bait is not there .
And hit it again in about an hour or so .
Not sure if it was what caused him to net them up so well or not , but to be sure he swore by it .
and he was chumming with corn when i got there .
might consider it you like to cast net for shad , it isnt my thing but to be sure he was loading up a live bait holder with them :cheers2

Was he using canned whole kernel corn or dry feed type corn?

Corn is an excellent bait. Most fish will take it.
