Bluegill or Sac a lait
My heart is torn this weekend...I have completed my work for the week and I’m drawing up battle plans ..do I gamble that this is the weekend the bluegill finally hit the beds..or do I take another poke at the remaining shallow fish at home base?

Well, if the Green Sunfish are any indication, then the Bluegill should be heading to the beds, because every Green Sunfish we caught at Taylorsville last week were about to burst. :biggrin
The trick may be to find a lake that isn't so negatively impacted by the constant rain/storms forecast over the next week.
We are coming up on a New Moon (Friday) .... but, we're also experiencing lower than normal water temps for this time of year. Not to mention the yoyoing water levels at some lakes.

I say change it up and try the gills. Been thinking about chasing them myself if I get a chance

My first and only bluegill outing this year went well. This was about 3 weeks ago at reelfoot. Not going to travel that far this time. I found a bunch of beds scanning this week at Taylorsville. It’s gettin me all fired up.

Let the water temps be your guide.

I've tried the bluegill and crackers three times at Dale Hollow in the last few days in places where I always find fish, but have yet to find them this Spring. All the water temps I've seen are just to cool for them. Somebody may be finding there, but I sure haven't. I've also tried Lake Cumberland on some beds where I always catch bluegill. Even tried as late as yesterday....and only caught one fish. It is definitely a strange year and these cold rains and cool nighttime temps are not helping.

Yea I’ve noticed that a lot of new beds being freshened up but haven’t seen any fish on them. One exception was Saturday, I found a nice one in 8 feet of water that had 10 or so other pods of beds strung together. I’ll probably stick to crappie this weekend. I hate to leave a hot bite.
