The Birds ,The Bees and The Crappeeez !
It was slightly overcast with a light mist falling . I had a tip to go to a spot I like . The birds were singing like something out of a movie when I got there at first light ,and so it begins .
Now without something to look all under the water and watch what the fish are doing down there I had to rely on something called …..what's that term again ….? :Rofl
All kidding aside I did actually "waste" some of my precious time on a few small bass and different sunfish before I got tuned into what, where and who . My first crappie came in an area I was getting a lot of sunfish bites and it was my only one at that location ! :yikes
So I fired up the big engine and made the leather go to work and moved to an alternative location . Shut down the big motor and parked on a friends dock not far from where I was firmly planted in the dirt .
Still struggling I opted for pull off my float and side arm under the dock a bit . Crappie were under it in numbers and I worked them over for a while until they slowed up . At that point once again I couldn't see what they were doing , but an educated guess paid off as I thought bet they moved to shallower water . Back with the float and …..
KABOOM is the word yawl …..:highfive
It turned out to be a hammer festival , I managed 53 fish in 1.5 hours and that includes my "wasted" time on the other 2 locations with the sunfish and bass and 1 crappie .In total I managed to ketch longear sunfish, warmouth, redear sunfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, white crappie and hybridized crappie.:cheers2
Now mind you this folks I aint making fun of electronics or boats or skill sets . Just a semi gentle reminder you can ketch a load of crappie most any time without them in the right spot at the right time .
Some say my specialty is ketchn crappie off the bank and yet others would say its my skill set ,in the end the truth is I like to ketch fish and crappie are at the top of my list and I put every trick I know out there to ketch them .
One thing most certain about the entire episode is that springtime crappie are the least sensitive to bait colors and sizes of baits and some of the easier to ketch crappie . I do enjoy the spring crappie thing for the most part because of the time of year and the temperatures and beauty of the outdoors . I don't have that much trouble off the bank year round ,but a bunch a singing birds and biting fish sure is a pleasant thing under a firm footing in a nice mild temperature situation .
Not a fish was kilt and YES I did have a turtle episode in the mix ...but hey that's another story right :Rofl
disclaimer time >> I have fun and poke some fun out there from time to time and by no means am making fun of anyone chasing the fish .
have a great day and stay safe and yes I was alone yesterday myself . :highfive
