Early start
Had everything ready last night, I just had to open the gates and drive. I got to the ramp and my subsequent first stop a good bit before the sun got to work. I had five fish to the boat before the horizon began to brighten. The ten foot rod and a 1/16 got a workout today. I haven’t felt a thump from a jig like that on a taught line in a good while, felt like some smacked the rod with a stick. I stayed busy with it for about two hours and then it slowed noticeably so I went small. I took the new Browning rod with the Japanese nylon line and learned some about it and compared it to others I had in the boat. It has more stretch than mono and made feeling the little jig bites a bit different. The only fish that broke my line today was a very large catfish that I saw for an instant before it took my jig and said goodbye. Never even got his attention. Head was almost as wide as both my fists. A bit much for 2 1/2 lb test. Darn good jig he took with him, gotta tie a few more of those. Through all of this I stayed busy. Anything that I thought I might need to measure got a pass, and I still brought home seven nice keepers. One was almost 13” and the smalls just under 11”. Two nice bags of fillets for the frozer. At the ramp at 1030 it was just this side of absolutely insane. There was at least one jet ski for every boat, maybe more. They need lessons on launching etiquette, sorely lacking. A real good morning and I got out just on time. Hope y’all got out and got you some, it sure was a pretty sunrise. Hope to see you out soon, til then.........Skeet.

Good looking fish and catch. Water temperatures still in the 50s here, no jet skis yet......

Sounds like a much needed relaxing and enjoyable day of self quarantining to me, skeet.
Man, do I ever dread the summer boat traffic and the traffic jams at the ramps.
