cleaning out livewell
cleaned out my livewell last night. Put in a half gallon of bleach, then closed off the livewell. I ran water into it contious for roughly 15 minutes. I let excess just run out the port hole. She looks pretty good right now. Thinking about doing it one more time tonight just to feel even better about it.
Anyone clean there's out differently?

I would be careful about using bleach if you ever catch and release. I don't know if you can ever get all the residue out and that will definitely kill fish. Use just a mild soap and water next time. Maybe mix a solution of "catch & release" checimals into soem lake water and leave it in the livewell for a few days to ensure the bleach gets out properly. Just my 2 cents

Car Wash
I'm also afraid of bleach, I just run mine down to the car wash, take the screens apart and shoot high power water in both livewells. If there is a better way I'd like to know too. :)

worry, worry, will they stay alive

I think you'll be alright. I've used baking soda and a brush before,
but don't know why, just seemed like the thing to do :p

CLEAN A LIVE WELL ? Mine never stays empty more than a few days and only flushing it gets is lake water.:D

Don't worry Jeff, I have one livewell I didn't clean. Just replaced the pump tonight and upgraded from a 500 to a 750. Hopefully it will keep even more fresh water int he livewell.
But, bleach always did bother me a little, but I just know too many people who use bleach to not make me worry too much.

cleaning livewell
I use Baking Soda and water to clean my livewell. It rinses easy and leaves it without smell. I overlooked a fish in mine a while back. It really got ripe in my basement before I discovered the source. After getting the residue of the fish out YUK!, I cleaned it with baking soda and water and let it set full for several hours then rinsed, no problem.

I have used bleach at 2 cup for about 10 gallons and let er run and then run er with clean water then flush again with clean never any problems with fish
