Rod Holder Set-Up Idea and Question
We have a pontoon with 2 fishing seats up front. I have to have something easy to put in and take out, but can't mount anything onto the boat. Each front corner has a box - one is a livewell and one is a storage box. On top of each is a hole for a rod holder.
My idea is this: Use PVC in each hole, the length of the hole (I think they go all the way to decking) and then come up just above the rail. Then use a 90 on each of those and a piece across to connect them both (would run a wooden down through for stability
(If the PVC is not strong enough to support I could try aluminum tubing)
From that, I'd like to mount 6 fishing rod holders to do spider rigging off the front.
1 - Would this idea potentially work?
2 - What rod holders would be best for it - It looks like I need something that will hold the rod tip near the water - and from what i can tell, that would be something with a 0 or 5 degrees - is that right?
Sorry for the long post - and if what I'm thinking to try doesn't make sense - any feedback would be appreciated!
