If they are similar in size and age shouldn’t be a problem. Most controls will interchange with same motors. Best check wiring harness first to make sure they are same. Not much to swap motors if you have a little help or a cherry picker to lift motor. Worst thing is if you have to change controls. Pulling and running cables and harness.
Not terrible. As said a cherry picker is your best friend. Check all mounting holes twice then recheck before you start any drilling for mounting bolts. Again the control cables and harness are worst of it. Mark where everything hooks up before you pull something out. Take your time. Gettin in a hurry will slow you down. Good luck.

Just in planning / thinking stage right now . I have a 2000 model 115 optimax 2 stroke with carburetors on the boat but have I have a 2009 90 4 stroke fuel injected on a pontoon I hardly ever use ,

That 4 stroke can save you a lot of gas money if you run it more.
