Looking to relocate
I've been doing some research into relocating to OK. within the next couple of years. Kind of wanting to stay fairly close to I 35 as I travel Wichita to Austin fairly often. Been looking at Ardmore some due to the low housing costs and the close proximity to Lake Murray. But it doesn't look like the fishing appears to be very good except maybe for bass. Very few comments about crappie. Am I mistaken?

I'm sure some folks fish it for crappie but it doesn't get much publicity. Never heard of it as a great crappie lake. But, Ardmore is pretty close to Texoma and there are frequently great posts from there on here. Check out the Texoma thread.

Looking to relocate
Lots of great places to fish here in OK.
I don’t hear many people fishing Murray for Crappie.
Good bass though.

Thanks for the replies. Been looking closer to Texoma also. Definitely staying north of state line. Will set up a realtor tour after the first of the year. Would like to have property purchased this coming year. Been pretty tough to convince momma but she's coming around.

Lived in that area 34 yrs. Murray has crappie, usually best on the north end in the small coves. You have to search for brush piles but they are there and good sized.
Arbuckle near Sulphur/Davis is good too but a lot like Murray.
PAULS Valley lake longmire is very good but if the fish aren’t biting... you can’t, we’ll.. I couldn’t tease em into it at all. When they are on though, oh boy.
By far the best all round fishery mentioned is Texhoma. Many well populated species, usually something is on somewhere on that lake.
I moved to NE Oklahoma 4 yrs ago. Still trying to figure these lakes out.
Good luck!
