Spyder rigging poles
I'm trying to pick out my Christmas present. My primary boat is a 22' Seapro SV with a 112lb riptide ipilot on the front. Any advice on power, action and length for fishing the st.johns and crescent lake. I'm still trying to figure this pole selection out and and other threads I've read don't seem to be specific enough for me to make a confident $350 purchase, so any advice from some peeps who fish these areas would be greatly appreciated

Get you a set of southern crappie 14 ft rods and never look back. Toughest rod out there. Light weight and cheaper than any of the really hyped rods. Get the 143 not the 143t which is for heavier weights. Your mostly going to be fishing 1/2 oz or lighter weights and that’s what they are designed for. I have them and pst and Denali, have fished ozark and others and they are still my go to rod.

There tends to be a lot of current where I fish, I'm having to use at least an ounce with 6lb test. Will that make a difference with those?

Yes, I have fished a ounce but it puts a bow in the tip. Yet it still carries it pretty good. If you fish that weight consistently then I’d suggest the 143T. It’s designed for heavier weights and pushing heavy jigs and crank baits. Look them up on the net and call the number Ed Dukes the owner will answer the phone. He can explain them to you and be ready to talk crappie fishing. He is a super guy to talk to.

I use Southern Crappie 16T, 14T and 12T.. I run 1 oz, because of the current there , they work fine and tough as nails
I also have some 10 footers i use jigging.. I think I have around 20 Southern Crappie Rods, they're really good..
16 and 14 I think are around $50 give or take a few

I use the 14 &16' ones from Southern. They are awesome.

I just bought 6 of the 143T for spider rigging. They work great. I use the 122T along with 102 for trolling. Call Mr. Duke and talk to him. He won't steer you wrong. He also has a few youtube videos that will help. Good luck.
