Core Shot Plastics ?
The ingenuity of same bait manufacturers never ceases to amaze me . A man I know decided he was going to do a "ghost minnow " / silverside minnow replica in a plastic and this is the bait he came up with .
He wanted me to test them after he made them and sent me a bunch of color combinations in this design to put in the water . It took me a few days to find time to hit the water with them and yesterday early about sunrise I hit a spot I like . I went with no crappie nibbles to get a real idea of its true abilities and only gave it a shot of G sauce here and there to add a little scent to it .
The fish did their very best to destroy the bait to say the least and nothing hit lighter than a freight train I tell ya . I mean they hit it so hard it was just amazing . I am sure some of the takes are do the fall pattern timing but none the less man was it fun to get hit that hard .
This test run was about as successful as it gets I tell ya , I put hammer on them like a tv fishing show and that aint no joke my friends .
pitched it on a 1/32 ballhead number 4 red sickle hook jighead with 6 lb hi viz mono , fish wanted it slightly raising and drug horizontally thru the water column about 6 foot deep in 14 foot of water .
65 of the fish were legal with about a half dozen more or so that were under added to that count in 1.5 hours of pitching 2 locations on the same lake .
stay tuned my friends and for sure …….
KABOOM is the word :highfive

Snake River has been doing core shot plastics for years. He even tried to teach me the technique. I tried it many years ago doing some lateral line blood stuff and gave up on it.

Been trying to use 1/32d and having difficulty in it falling to my brush pile/structure. Our fish insist on 20+’ so we are fishing deeper than many of you. I added a split shot to help get it down but worry that it may disaffect the jig action. We also occasionally have current that makes dropping anything less than 1/8th almost impossible. Any insights fellas?
