Threat to Little Lake Harris????

This was just posted on the 'Tavares Word of Mouth' Facebook page, so I am sharing here. Since our community is built on Little Lake Harris, I believe this should be of interest to all of us.

Does anyone know there is a proposal to connect highly polluted Lake Apopka to Little Lake Harris? What are these people thinking? On Oct 4 at 9AM the Harris Chain of Lakes Restoration Council will meet in the Town Council Chambers in Tavares (round building on Main St). Please plan on attending this very important meeting. There will be a presentation of a proposal to build a canal "conveyance" from highly polluted Lake Apopka directly to Little Lake Harris. Lake Apopka is the most polluted lake in central Florida with four times the algae producing nutrients and high levels of pesticides leached from the flooded muck farms. It is 25 times the size of Little Lake Harris and the proposed canal will dump into the double run spring area which is a protected reserve at the south end of Little Lake Harris. It’s called Double Run Spring and is the major source of clean water into Little Lake Harris.

i don't do facebook, so I can't see first hand. So this may be just hearsay??:dono:dono??

Are they gonna do a NERF plant filtration thing with the water coming out of it like they do in the other canal that leads out of the lake. I feel they absolutely need to, especially since they recognize the pollution exists, and already clean water coming out of it elsewhere.

I posted the notice on CG1's Lake Jem project board on FB. She/they are aware.
