Scouting/fishing alone 91819
There was no one to take fishing this morning, so I went alone. I know that we dont have a good moon phase, but when did that ever stop anyone from going fishing. I really enjoy scouting alone because I can position the boat anyway that I like and move whenever. Grin.
My catch was sparse this morning, but I did catch a beautiful tarp sized hybrid crappie 15.25 and 1.75 pounds. I release all tarp crappie. I made a short video of the tarp and the release. Beautiful fish.
I caught two 12 crappie off different docks on panfish assassins. I caught one keeper 11 crappie on BG Blue Ice Baby Shad then broke the jig off. Curtis Hobbs will love that as that means ordering more hooks before long. Then I tied on a monkey milk stump bug 1.75 and immediately caught another 11 fish on offshore structure. I was sitting in 17 feet of water. All fish came on the lift drop technique and on the bottom except the tarp. I made a cast to 16.5 feet of water and while watching my line as always, I saw the line jump on a 4 count and set the hook and the battle as on.
13,400 cfs while I was fishing and a beginning mid morning surface temp of 84.4. Water still too hot for good fishing. I kept 4 fish and released two keepers of 10.25 along with the tarp crappie. The reason that I believe the tarp was a hybrid is because it had 7 spines on the dorsal fin which is common for the Black crappie, but it also had some vertical bars which are common in the White crappie. The mouth seemed extra large as well.
