Chinese crappie ?

yes sir that's right , in spots where there aint a thermocline I am pretty sure the larger fish have gone deep enough to become immigrants in china .:yikes
and thus making them Chinese crappie :Rofl
all kidding aside if you don't have a developed thermocline in lots of cases midday larger crappie are very deep in some spots on some lakes .
this isn't a golden rule and to be sure rules are made to be broken , but I do see some larger fish parked real deep right now midday .
without a graph or boat I only guess and probe and see what I can find here and there and to be sure the largest I have managed on 2 different visits to one spot were parked flat out on the bottom midday with the lesser fish above them as is often the case when they are not deep as well .

They're a little deeper than usual down here after the sun gets up but not much....

Caught 20 at 34 feet deep last week. No thermocline and all whites. Curly tail jig or minnow on bare hook. Wish I could post the LiveScope video here to show you.

I seen em in some spots 30 to deeper in 35 to 40 fow in the summer before when there wasn't a thermocline
and been told in real deep lakes they even go deeper than that minus a thermocline .
