My depth finder keeps going out on me like it’s getting hot. It’s brand new. I bought when my old one starting doing the same thing. Anyone have any advise for me or ideas? Thank you in advanced.

I had the same problem with my Hummingird 798. It also didn't keep anything in memory. Since it was 7 years old I figured it might have a battery in it that went bad. I just bought me a garmin 73sv for the front of my boat. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

Let me have the sonar unit -- then I will have three on my boat --- sounds like bad connections , like corrosion.. I have seen one time where multiple strands were broken inside the Insulation caused overheating of the wire .. Crimp on connectors are bad about getting mild corrosion connecting on the copper wire causing voltage drop under load
Clean your connector I had the same problem

When you replaced with a new sonar -- did you use the old power cord or install the new one that came with the unit --- Low voltage is what will make them shut down -- the Battery might not be putting out enough
My recomendation is....do not connect to power at the fuse panel at the boats console. Run dedicated 14 guage wire from cranking battery to connect your power cord that came with your new unit to ( make connection to power cord with a good twisted, soldered, heat shrunk splice ). At the battery end on the positive side place a inline fuse the size recommended by your fish finder mfg. These new units use a lot more power than the older ones did and lots of times problems are from too small a wire and too many poor connections between the battery and the fish finder
