Decided to do what I use to spend all summer doing growing up. A tube of crickets and cork and hook. Wading the creek catching robin. Probably caught 75. Kept 20 for the grease. Lot tougher walking at 53. Lol. Still a lot of fun.

I tried at Shearon Harris Satuday with half tube of crickets. I could not find them along grass lines. I fished from holleman boat ramp all way up to bridge, caught lot of small ones and a 4 pound Bass. I only got one sizable bluegill from 2pm to dark.
Good memories! Both pictures look great and the second better if it were in front of me! :ThumbsUp
At Harris gills are along the grass during the spawn and then they're gone for the rest of the year (where they go, I don't know, haven't tracked them down). This time of year you can catch small ones along the shore, but 90% of the quality fish will be off shore in 10-15 fow.
Some of my best fishing memories are of dropping crickets straight down under bobbers beside stumps. And frying them just like in your pictures!
Cwright, wait until you get to 74 and you will better know how hard it is to walk the creek!! Glad you had a good day. Nothing fights like a brim on ultra light rigs!
Well done brother. I too remember many a good fishing trip with crickets and red worms and lots of good fish fries.
I believe it does us all a whole lot of good to go back to the basics of fishing every chance we get.
Thanks for sharing.
