Starting a book list of fishing techniques from people that are/ were pioneers of their trade.
Here is my list in no particular order.
Jed Davis' Spinner Fishing for Steelhead, Salmon, and Trout. (Inline Spinners)
Buck Perry's Spoonpluging
John Skinner's Fishing The Bucktaits from Surf and Boat.
George Daniel's Dynamic Nymphing
Charlie Brewer's Slider Fishin'
Obviously none of these on my list are crappie specific but each have thought me great things about fishing in general. From these books and time on the water practicing their methods I can go anywhere and rarely get skunked. I have learned to fish both current and still water form these giants of the fishing world. Some of these were writing books and teaching before I was born. Some are younger than I am. I have learned equally from both. Some use bait casters, some spinning, some fly gear. I like it all.
