The Saga Continues - Today’s Results
I fished today from about 8:30 until 11:30. I talked to my neighbor yesterday afternoon, and I am absolutely certain that I was fishing one of his favorite brush piles, right in front of a dock that he described in detail. The dock was there and the brush pile was there. The little fish symbols on my Garmin lit up like a Christmas tree. If half the fish symbols were actual fish, I was fishing in fish soup. They were everywhere from about 5 feet to about 20 feet. One thing that was consistent, however was a straight line of them at 11 feet and again at 15 feet. A perfectly straight line half way across the screen. I fished the Slab Tail Ugly Green which is my neighbor’s go-to lure. I also tried a Bobby Garland Blue Ice and a Mr Twister in Chartreuse and the Gray Ghost feather jig. I spent most of my time vertical fishing, just letting the lure sit there. I tried various depths from about 9 or 10 feet down to about 15 feet. The result was that I caught 1 largemouth about 1 1/2 lb trolling a plug, but he gave me a pretty good fight on ultralight gear.
My my wife and I have some errands to run this afternoon and I’m going to pick up a minnow bucket and aerator and some #4 red hooks if I can find them.
There is rain in in the forecast through the weekend, but we really need it.
