Transom repair
I have to replace the transom wood on my 1960 Rich line semi-vee. I originally replaced the rotten plywood with pine but it is crumbing now. Plywood can pit aluminum so I am looking for a better material.
How about Cedar?
Anyone use it?
Please, I need help!

Instead of pressure treated ply get some regular ply, cut it all out and fit it up then before installing put a couple of coats of fiberglass resin on it to seal it up good.

thanks but i have no experience with that, hoping to use real wood

If you can find it, or order it; cypress.

Cedar may not be favorable because it's so soft, the transom clamps on your motor would dig into it.
I used a chunk of oak on my old Alumacraft, but that's not available to everyone.

or just use plywood and seal it with 5-6 coats of marine ureathane making sure to go heavy around the edges.

Find you some marine grade plywood
