Need advice on Powder coating jigs

I am having trouble with the eyes getting covered while baking, there is no drip on nose of jig.
Here's what I have tried, tell me what I need to do different. Jigs are 1/16 and 3/16

Heat jig with a heat gun for a count of 3-5. Then dip, tap excess off and clean hole out. ( The powder does not turn shiny until I reheat, do this way thinking I pick up less powder??)

Hang in toaster oven, from hook, and bake for 20 min at around 300 degrees. Put a thermometer in oven to make sure on the temp.

If you will hold the eye while dipping the eye doesn't get much if any at all in the eye. I always clean the eye before curing. Your heat is to low and time is short. 350 -375 for 30 minutes is the norm for me with 325 being the lowest at times with trying new combo colors.

Like stump said. Try heating a couple more counts before dipping. Add until when you dip jig and pull out she starts to gloss over. Cool then I use a old pocket knife and clean around eye. The make at 325 for 30 minutes. Dipping that cold you are leaving to much powder around hook eye.

I hold the jig by the hook with my hand when heating. I then clasp the eye of the jig with a pair of 45 degree needle nose plyers so that when I dip the jig no paint gets on the eye. When heating I heat the head long enough to where when pulled out of the paint it glosses over really good. I wait a couple of seconds and then dip the head in water to cool and then hang. When curing I'm around 325 for 20 minutes.

Thanks for all the help! I tried cleaning eye off with knife and baked at higher temp. This seemed to help.

Never experienced that problem. I would guess you are getting too much paint. Are you using a fluid bed? and if not, fluffing the powder with say a screwdriver every couple dips? Can you post a picture of them? Bake them to the specs on the jar, every powder is different. MOST will be okay at 350 for 20 min, but some will discolor if you go over 300-325. If you can hit them with a hammer and the paint doesn't chip off, you have your baking correct.

usually if you clean the eyes out before baking, they never coat over again. I've forgotten to clear eyes before baking before, that is a pain! Needle in pliers held over a flame until red hot and jammed through the eye is abut the only way ive found to clean them after baking.

As I stated simply hold hook with fingers while heating and then place plyers on eye of head and then dip in paint will stop 95% if not more paint on eye of jig. Heat head until when comes out shiny after painting. No need under heating and coming out powdery and then leaving up to your oven to finish product. Oven is for curing the paint. Maybe my thinking is wrong by my jigs support my theory.

This exactly the same method I use If I have to clean the eyes after baking. Sometimes I will use the tip of a heated straighten paper clip.
