I've heard there are some pro's that are running 2 LVScopes up front because the beam is so narrow. Is there any specs out there that show how wide the beams are in relation to how far away it is shooting. I would think it's basically the similar to a DI only laying on it's side, I'm feeling "double-wide" cone angle beams are going to be in Live Scope's future if there is already a need to put on the front of one boat.
I've read where the cone angle is 20 degrees. I've seen a chart on a different forum that gives you the width at 10, 20 and 30 feet. My math skills aren't that good but I think it was like 6 or 7 feet wide at 30 feet. Hopefully someone will do the math.
If the beam angle is 20deg .... then it's basically the same as a 20deg cone of a 2d depth finder .... so the cone would be about 1/3 as wide as the distance. That would mean the beam at 10ft distance would be ~3ft wide - 20ft distance = ~7ft wide - 30ft distance= ~10ft wide.Quote:

The LiveScope beam form is much different than conventional "cone shaped" Sonar ...
The LiveScope beam form is described as narrow very close/ wider to a point/ and then narrows again farther away ...

Livescope is a searching tool. I don't want it wider than it is now. You aim the Livescope and search the water and when you see your target you can go right to it! Just my opinion, I have been using Livescope for 3 months and I love it!
First you need to have a clear understanding of what you are seeing when you use it. Which states my only problem with it, I'm not sure which side is which with the down view section or exactly what I am seeing in the forward view. The use of a bridge pillar to determine this is a great suggestion, I will do this the next time the weather allows me out on the lake.Quote:
