Watts Bar Lake Tournament Results
This past Saturday East Tn Crappie Club held its 5th tournament of the year. This event was held on Watts Bar Lake. It was a wet miserable day to say the least as we had 2.44 inches of rain in total for the day. It started raining at blast off and never quit! Despite the weather forecast we had a great turnout of 16 boats entering the event. We want to thank each and every angler who supports our events and fishes with us rain or shine. It is you guys and gals who make this club possible. Thank you!
The fishing was good Saturday and most anglers reported catching lots of fish. Also the warm temps and rain mixed with a pre front had some big fish out to play as well. We had 4 teams weigh in a 7 fish limit of over 11 lbs. Way to go anglers. The team which bettered the field on this day and took home first place was the team of Matt Xenos and Darren Caughron with a 7 fish weight of 11.70 lbs and a big fish of 2.17 Lbs. Good job guys.
Most teams reported catching there fish on brush and docks in 12 to 25 ft of water, but there were also some good fish caught spider rigging in the secondary creeks. Baits used ranged from Bobby Garland Crappie Baits, Crappie Magnet, BoneHead Tackle, and Jiffy Jigs. It did not appear that a specific color was any better or worse as teams used many different colors to catch fish. We all want to thank Jason Rhodey for bringing some boat towels for us. They were used im sure on this wet nasty day. Also a notable Mr. Jeff Stiles was able to boat his personal best crappie a beautiful 1.94 Lb White. Nice fish Jeff.
