Me and Dave went to Caddo

Its like going home to mommas for Christmas. Every fall/winter the fish move into Johnson's. I dont know where they come from but many trips, many memories here.

Uncertain, Tx, Johnsons Ranch is the oldest inland marina in Texas.
It has been under water completely many times. Dont worry, they just clean the mud out of those ancient beer coolers and fire'em back up.

Its the only place I know, where you can buy gas, beer, shiners, have your catch cleaned, launch and catch fish without cranking your motor. And, do like me and Cajun, have a Texas sized chicken fried steak dinner.
You dont have to clean no fish or worry about supper.

It dont get no better........

Oh btw, the chicken fry came from Shady Glade Cafe right down the street from Johnsons.

Wednesday, had 19 gooduns, all 14-17 inch.
They wanted the shiner. Water clear, could see orange and chart, 3ft.
High barometer said fish 1 or 2 off bottom 13-15 fow.

They put us on facebook to let everyone know it on.
Not the biggest stringer but da biguns.

Day two, started off slow but we ended up with 20.
Just slow steady gooduns.
I was using a orange jighead and shiner.

I recognize that stretch of water Shiner. I fished it with Dave a few years back but we didn't come close to catching the size fish that you'll caught. Glad to see you and the Cajun after them and y'all did good.

Those are some really nice fish. Looks like yall had a good trip. I like Cajun Dave's coveralls with that patch and his name, look real good.

Good times! I've run across ole Cajun Dave a couple of times. He's a character for sure. I'm sure spending a day on the lake with him would provide for some grand memories. I've been visiting Shady Glade Cafe off and on since the 80's. I like to launch there and grab an egg and sausage biscuit on the days they open early. Gotta check their hours before you go because they change with the seasons.

Not only big, but good and tender. The waitress said they are made fresh not frozen, delivered 3 times a week.

It has been years since I have had Chicken Fried Steak ... The wife said Good Truck Stops has it in their Restaurants.. Stretching on my memory Bank, I think that Cracker Barrel has it on the Menu also... some of those fried Potato's on the side and you would need a Wheelborrow

water up at least 3 ft since we caught, dang near flood stage
The docks will be underwater, youll need a kayak.

Launched a Shady Glade on last Wednesday ( 12-26-18) and water is at least 3ft to 4ft. high, but falling . Current in main river and drains would make it tough for crappie fishing. Water was not very dirty, but do not know since the extra rains on Thursday.

Nice day for a boat ride. Only tired bass fishing with my son and not crappie fishing.

One of these days , I'm going to try that large chicken fried steak that shady glade sells. Looks awesome!

GS, did you get another boat? Didn’t look like your Ranger. Any idea when the river in front of JR might be fishable again (water within banks and current tolerable)?
