I got off to a slow start this morning. The coffee just tasted too good and I stayed for a second one.
I got to the ramp and I was the third trailer in the lot. I checked the ramp to see if it was clear of sea weed and it was. I knew that the wind was supposed to shift and I wasn't sure how it would be. I launched and headed out. This time I headed over by the OPP to see what was going on.
I had a new (?) toy to play with. I had an old 3.5 gas motor in the garage that I haven't used in years, so with the help of a friend, we got it running over the week end and I wanted to see how it would work on the Tracker. I got on site, dropped the motor down and pulled the rope 3 or 4 times and she came to life. I put the rods out and kicked the little motor into gear. We were off :cheers2
It wasn't long before a rod bent. First fish in the boat but it only measured 10 inches ( out side of the specknator slot ) so she went back to fight another day.
I played around with the little kicker to learn how to adjust and control the boat with it. I think I am going to like using it, but I need to work out a better steering set up for it. I trolled between 1.4 and 1.8 mph. Both into and with the wind. I felt I had better speed control.
Before I knew it, it was 11 am and time to head in. The rods did not bend again this morning. At leased I did not get skunked and I had plenty of time to tinker with the set up. :highfive
I'll give it a try again on Friday.
