Garmin Sideview Images from last trip
Saw some of the largest crappie schools we have ever seen in this lake. Unfortunately they were smaller fish in the 10 inch or so range but fun to catch (and release, didn't keep any this trip, freezer already full).
One spot was especially fun. When the school was marked we could circle around (pushing jigs) and I could call the hits just before they happened... "standby, now, now, now!" And on the third "now" the poles would go down as we hit the mark. :) What a hoot.
One of the marks (image 6) was over a sunken boat apparently. At least it looks like that to me.
Last, in the image marked "sv - 07 bluegills" we were actually transiting to another area on the lake, but still pushing the jigs. We were in the middle of nowhere when the poles went off, but no hookups. After circling and seeing the school on the scope it became clear why they didn't look quite right for a school of crappie... they were bluegills. We caught one or two out of the school proving it. The funny part is that they literally chewed our tube lures to pieces. Tore the tails off all the Mr. Twister Road Runners, shredded the legs of the tubes, etc. I have no idea what a random school of bluegills was doing in the middle of the lake over open water and zero structure or difference in the bottom.
