Trolling Motor Veering
My boat came with Minn Kota All Terrain ?40 ? pound thrust 12 volt It’s ok, mainly because it came with the boat.
When it is on continuous power option and I take my foot off of the petal it seems to veer one way in another. If I go in the back of the boat I may end up anywhere. Especially when I have 8 poles out spider rigging, then I will definitely get snagged. So now after I get a bite I switch power toggle to off, or try to remember to cut off.
Is this normal? The veer can be pretty severe. Is there any bushings that need replacement? Or any more adjustments?
I tightened the linkage screw under cable

There is probably nothing wrong with your trolling motor. You need to keep your foot on the pedal to steer it. Use the momentary button on the pedal so it cuts off when you let up. Try this to see if your results are any better.

Get one of these. Install clamps with the wing nut type clamps for easier adjustment. Makes a world of difference. Also remember no matter how straight your going when changing weight and position in boat it is going to veir off a little.

Motor torque is doing it. Should be able to adjust the tension under the peddle but it will make it hard to steer.

Adjustment is cranked down all the way

If adjustment is cranked down, do as cray said. I have a motor guide, no adjustment, the troll perfect was the key. Just don't get them to tight.
