The ever elusive Royal Flush
Many times we hit the water and have things in mind before we go . Yesterday afternoon was one of those days . We thought we would probably ketch a few crappie and thought we may or may not keep a few . So our adventure begins with my buds Helix down yet again after he got it working since our last boat ride . We think its done this time for good and he is not really happy about it going down again .
The good news is we are familiar with the lake and we are going to timber doodle and hit trees and our strategy will be run and gun . Stop drop , ketch and roll is our plan and on this water body at this time of year its the way to put crappie in the boat . The fish there are rarely in great numbers per tree and the best bet is to ketch until you don't for a few and move on .
Well we stop at our first tree and as my bud SK would say BAM ...nice crappie ….:highfive
Then the card game begins , next drop KABOOM and the 10 foot rod I don't use often bends over like spaghetti and the braid reel squeaks and I tell my bud this here AINT no crappie :Rofl
Well after a pretty good struggle up comes a jim dandy drum :banghead
My bud is laughing and says you on the way to your tri fecta my friend , so we yuck it up some and display my dandy drum and his dandy crappie he got right when I hooked up to our buds a few trees away .We move on and hit lots more timber and ketch lots more white crappie and then I finally ketch a black crappie ! Then later I ketch a black bass and my bud is poking at me and says well you just need a yellow bass to complete your mission !
I said oh no no no bud I got to get a bluegill as well to call it done and we about roll around laughing in the boat I tell ya :Rofl
Next stop a bluegill comes up and we are just cracking up I tell ya , then it gets even better as the next stop up comes a yellow bass ! Well the tri fecta mission is more than complete except to get the ever elusive Royal Flush I need at least one catfish ! :yikes
I manage a nice little mohawk at the next stop and we hit a tree loaded with white crappie and one lone tree when we left for a real nice black crappie but in the end as it often happens I cant seem to play that last card and never ketch a kitty kat fish :banghead
I did decide to ice down exactly 8 of my fish ...in the 12 to 13 inch long fish size along the way for a couple of dinners for my family and we let the rest swim on and....
in the end ….The ever elusive Royal Flush of ketchn eluded me once AGAIN ...:Rofl
