Keep brush pile upright?
Newbie brush pile builder here. I have a lot of ~10-15’ long branches i am going to be trimming. I plan on wiring them to cinder blocks and sinking them. My question is how many branches per block(27 lb weight) should I tie, and how do I keep them upright? I’ve read about using a 20oz coke bottle. If I tied multiple branches to a block, would the best thing to do be to tie a coke bottle above each branch to keep each one standing?
Thanks.

Welcome to CDC !!!! Brush piles will attract and hold fish -- I read somewhere that sonar sees the Air Bladder and also marks it as fish.. The best thing I have seen is buckets with Cut sections of water hose inserted in the mortar -- they stand upright and Fish Hooks do not hang up on that structure

I’ve read to tie an mpty 20 oz sealed pop bottle to the top of the brush. Never tried this but typically the piles I’ve sunk stay the way I’ve sunk them. I tie them pretty good to a rock or cinder block. The ones that have fallen over still attrack fish.

I never worry about them standing up . If there is no current one block will hold a big brush pile in place . Most green trees will not take much to sink . Dry wood takes more weight of course .

A gallon milk jug and zip ties work real well to hold brush upright. If you think the gallon jug is to big just fill it half way with water now it's a half galon jug.

Gallon oil jugs and anti freeze jugs also!!!!

Stack them up for heights . Seem to draw more fish with crossing limbs and tree trunks . :twocents

Pool noodles work well also

there are blocks and then there are BLOCKS... sank several hundred "BB"s (brush blocks ) by taking hardwood branches and gradually filling 1 hole all limbs cut ends together. then stuffed the opposite side the opposite direction then used light steel cable to tightly bind them in a figure 8 pattern tying off each side separately and clamping it. low, fairly dense and depending on the type wood long lasting. semi stealthy except for all those pesky unstealthy fish that use them.
