Patoka
I spent a long weekend at Patoka, putting in at the Walls Lake ramp. We caught lots but they were in the 5"-8" range. We only caught 3 above 9". The water was still around 6' high. The water was about 65* going up to 70*. We caught probably 60 in 3 days. We used minnows and did a little trolling with good ol' Flicker Shads. We saw them close to the channel around 10'-14'. We tried close to the shore with no success. The 3 we kept had eggs, they just weren't very plump and the eggs just didn't look right. I did do a little test on Sunday. I was running a little low on minnows so I tied on a red Rockport Rattler with a Gulp minnow and sprayed a little Slab Sauce with Garlic. Darn, within minutes I caught another Crappie. Don't know what it was going after but I did jig it up and down a little for the rattle (forgot to take a photo for the contest). Also, the cabins at Patoka Station were pretty good. The brisket at the restaurant was pretty darn good. If these product endorsements aren't allowed I'll edit them out:dono. All in all, we enjoyed the weekend mainly because we were catching fish:fish and had good company.
Now, back to Eagle Creek then Dale Hollow next month.

Used to catch a boatload of good gills too. Indiana Bass Fed had 1000 lb one day total weigh ins also as well as Red Man tourney trail.

I fished down there a lot in the 80's. That was mostly shore fishing but we always had a fish fry. This weekend we were a little disappointed with the size of the fish, but we were catching something. That makes up for the size. I think we will go back sometime in the near future.
