I've been wondering the same thing. My pond has a few mussels in it and I haven't noticed any negative impact.
Any pond managers or biologists on here that want to weigh in?
Our 7 acre pond/lake is full of them . I was led to believe it was food for red ear . Could be wrong .
I don't think they cause any harm, Catfish love them.
If they are the size of your thumbnail then you are safe
ours are a lot bigger than thumb nails . quarter to half dollar size .Quote:
