I would drop some 4 or 5 footers on top of the hill close to edge and if there is enough I would drop a few in the ditch also.
Correct. This is an idea site, placing the cover in lines shallow to deep creates a range for them to use regardless of temperature. Would recommend using PVC attractors at the deep end. On the slope hardwood branches stuffed into cement blocks and securely tied will easily stay in place.
