Need advice
I have a Ranger 391 xt I am getting to the point in my life where I am not as stable in my boat as I use to be. I am looking at a tracker pro v 175 combo. I am looking for something that does not have as high of a step up to the front deck and high sides I will be spider rigging and shooting docks, and be long lining of the back and want live wells front and back. I would like to here your opinion. Thanks .

I know what you mean. The older I get the more I think I want to fish in a boat instead of on top of one.

I would have a step built to make the transition easier before I would change boats. The overall stability will be less in an aluminum over the big glass boat. I came out of a 16' aluminum stick steer into an 18' glass bass boat. While I miss my stick boat ALOT, I also miss surfing and can't do that anymore either. Just my two cents.

I have a stick steer that I sit down in.....and as skeet said I had a step built when I ordered it so I did not have a big step up or down. Of course that little bit of front deck is there just to hold batteries and to get in and out of boat. My boat is small...it is a 14.5 foot with 54 inch bottom. They make the same layout as mine in either a 16 or 18 foot with a 72 inch bottom......that’s a lot of room. I realize glass is a much softer ride but having owned several of them I know I could no longer fish on a raised deck.

I have used a boat for 5 years that I sit in 99% or more of the time .I find that as I age I am a bit less steady and never needed to stand up to hammer lips anyway. ease of movement front to back is nice as well and I enjoy a nice center console with high sides on the boat quite well . I mind taking a swim when I don't want to and for sure have come close a few times standing up in a boat . Especially them fancy ones with the mind of its own trolling motor thingee ....
lol ...
my buds Carolina Skiff is a pretty nice rig , and I also ride in a few other center consoles I like as well . you might want to think about a center console in my opinion ....good luck to you on your search

When I was looking for a boat the following link was on my want list. I did not have the garage space for it and to be truthful the money. But had I had both I would own it. You sit down in it and it’s is glass with lots of room. Just a thought. Larson FX 1750 TL. When I was looking a couple of years back they made this in a 16 foot model. Would still love to have one.

I have a 17' Lund and it's perfect with deep V, high sides and built very well! Mine is a Crappie Edition and I long line mostly, but summer just tight line mostly. You should study these boats well and know Lund has been making great boats for a very long time and mostly a Norther boat, but I figure anything built to take the Great Lakes should be fine for me here!

A big pontoon, a little pondtoon, and a stick steer jon boat. Wire 'em so you can share your electronics. No boat can do it all where I am located. My little jon goes places that big boats just can't go.
